Street Writing Project

2000 ~ present, Cibachrome print, each photo: 68.5 x 101.6 cm
In “Street Writing Project,” I take photographs of street locations with letters of the English alphabet written with found objects that include bread, cherry blossom petals, broken glass, pieces of wood, etc. I then utilize these photographs to write words, such as “HERE,” “HOMELESS,” etc. The order of the photographs is thus determined by the spelling of the word. Their position, however, is always momentary as a different word brings a different position to the photograph.
